Has it ever occurred to the cynical BBC that elected officials visit Taiwan because they love to meet their elected counterparts in a fellow democracy? This report also perpetuates a subtle untruth that only U.S. congressmen do this. In fact, parliamentarians from virtually every major democracy in the world, most of them European, have visited Taiwan in the past several years. Not everything is about China vs. the U.S. If anything, it's China vs the rest of the world.
