The problem came after China's predictable retaliation to slap export controls on the company's products - which are made in China. These are not cutting-edge high-tech chips, but the mid-tech stuff European industry is so heavily dependent on. In a single market, decisions with such a strong market spillover potential should never be made by a national government.
