A leading organizer of the 1989 Tiananmen Square movement, Wang Chaohua helped coordinate student demonstrations, and was one of the movement’s most influential female leaders. Following the June 4 crackdown, Wang was forced into exile, reflecting the all-too-familiar story of the Chinese Communist Party suppressing the memory of Tiananmen Square, punishing those who bore witness to the state-sponsored bloodbath, and silencing all who seek freedom and truth. She now lives in California.
